THE GOLD EDIT: FEATURING KIKO AND PUR COSMETICS

Is it just me, or has packaging suddenly got a lot more luxe this season? I'm loving all the golds and metallics - and Kiko and Pur are leading the pack with these newbies.
Pur Cosmetics have completely swapped up their packaging, since they're quite a pricey brand, they felt a more high-end look would be better fitted to them. And Kiko, well they've had about three new collection launches in the past month, and the two I'm writing about here are from the limited edition trend collection.
Want to know more? Great. Here are my golden picks...

KIKO DESERT DUNES TRIO BAKED BLUSH // IMPULSIVE MAUVE // £16.90

I haven't always been a fan of trio or duo blushers. Mainly because I want to pick a colour that suits me and use that, without having to dodge around any extra shades. But these three go together really well. The lighter shade at the top acts like a highlighter, and the mauve shade at the bottom gives your cheeks a bit of depth - almost a contour.
The end result is slightly shimmery, but without being a full 'in your face sparkle'. It's flattering. I use it with a medium-sized fluffy brush, on the apples of my cheeks, and it goes well with my skin tone. The price is high for Kiko, but this new golden range is meant to be more luxe, with a slightly more expensive feel. And it really does feel better quality. I like it.

PUR COSMETICS MOONLIT PEARL STROBE PALETTE // £24 // M&S

If you haven't heard of it, strobing is basically the new (or kind of new) word for highlighting. But like, fancier. So the focus for your face should be on your highlighter or illuminator, and less on your bronzer or contour. It's a flattering trend, if it doesn't go too shimmery, and it works really nicely on darker skin tones. This palette is a creamy one, but when it goes on the skin, it almost feels powdery.
They recommend using your fingers to blend, and I've found this is the best way - a brush just ruined the shades and didn't really transfer on enough.
I think I still prefer my Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder highlighter, but I really do like this - and how pretty is it?!
Take a look at the swatches (they're done in order from the first shade on the left, to the third on the right) below for a more accurate description of the shades.

KIKO MIRAGE LIP STYLO // BOHEMIAN SIENNA // £13.90

I'm such a lipstick hoarder, especially nudes. And I mean, ALL shades of nude. My favourite colour to wear at the moment though is a deep mauve/plummy nude - and this lipstick is exactly that shade. As much as I love matte finishes, in the day, I actually prefer to wear something a little more sheer, and this has, not a glossy finish, but almost a balmy one. It feels nice to wear. The colour doesn't last me morning till lunch-time, but it does linger for an hour or two. I do think the price is high for this, as you're going into Clarins type of price - and I think I prefer their Lip Perfectors.
I do LOVE this shade though, its so flattering. And if you're a Kiko fan, it's well worth investing in a piece from the new range.

What do you think? Will any of these be making your weekend lust lists? Let me know below!x
