If you didn't hear we whining over the weekend, I turned 24 on Monday and I didn't take it very well. I mean, 23, that was my year. Even 22, that was nice. But 24 just sounds so old now - I'm just not adult enough for such a high number.
If you're older than me and reading this thinking: 'Oh, you wait', then you are more enlightened than me, and one day I will be sure to beg for 24 back. Despite the number, I had a really lovely day! I'd gone home that weekend to spend some time at home in Bournemouth with my family - and ate so much BBQ food that I thought I would explode. My sister also baked me a rainbow cake, which is quite possibly my favourite thing ever.

I also got given some really beautiful gifts by my lovely friends and family, so I thought I'd share with you a few of them.

When did stationery get so trendy? I have a few friends that would tell me it's always been trendy, but honestly, I think this year it's turned into the 'it' thing to have and collect. I wish some of the brands coming out had been around when I was in school, because it's all just SO pretty these days. From golden pens to slogan notebooks, it's easier than ever to be the cool kid at work.

My new favourite brand is Ban.dō. It's sold on Asos and in John Lewis, and they have some really lovely pieces. I'd definitely recommend checking them out for all kinds of gift ideas, but the two I was kindly given by my friend were the I Did My Best notebook (£12 on Asos) and the Sticky Note Set (£10 John Lewis). I'm actually really excited to go around my house putting these sticky notes everywhere!

Excuse the irritating mirror smudge!
I'm trying to branch out and pick some dresses I wouldn't normally choose. Which is why I quite like getting clothes from my friends, because they pick something I probably wouldn't. I really love this black mesh dress from Asos, and it's perfect for this sort of season, because it isn't too breezy, but it still has some really pretty cutout details.
I like the way the top part ties into a bow, and how the mesh at the bottom drops to the knees. I'm not sure where I'll be wearing this - but I think it'll be great for a Friday night or a nice dinner.

There's three rings in this shot, but I actually cannot remember where the gold little bird ring is from! I've been trying to find out but I can't see it anywhere. It might be coming out in the new winter collection at Accessorize, but I'll check on that. The two rose gold pieces I got for my birthday are the double heart ring from Newlook (£5.99), and the gorgeous Michael Kors bangle (£80). They're so delicate and pretty - and rose gold is definitely my shade for the summer.

What's on your wish list this year?x
