Two weekend-away pieces you’ll want to pack (especially if you're not sure about the weather!)

Packing for a short stay is almost as tricky as a full holiday, because you still need all the same things - just in lesser quantities.
The other weekend I went down to visit my family home in Bournemouth. We were SO lucky with the weather, but even in high summer, you can never really trust if it's going to be bright or rainy in the UK, can you?

Which is why I packed two new wardrobe pieces, which both worked so well. One was a cold shoulder embellished dress, and the other was a tie-waist crop top. They sound so simple but they’re easy to style up or dress down - which makes them the perfect options if you’re stuck for space in your overnight bag.

This dress is relatively new in at Zara as I only spotted it about two weeks ago. Whenever summer rolls around, I’m always looking through Zara to check out the little dresses and playsuits, because I love them all. They’re such good value for money, and you know they won’t be see-through. I also find the sizes in there fit me really well, as I’m relatively tall and dresses don’t come up quite as short as some other shops. I’m not a huge fan of skin-tight dresses either, so this navy blue embellished one is perfect for me. It’s a trapeze style, which means it goes down in a triangle sort of shape (more flattering that it sounds, I promise!). But I love how it also has little sleeves with a cold shoulder detail, instead of spaghetti straps. It makes it much easier to wear it without a jacket, if the weather isn’t too warm. I wore mine with a faux leather cropped jacket that I also got from Zara about a year ago. I also paired it with little pink espadrilles from Ego. They’re only about £19 (link here), and I’ve worn them so much already. Also, I’ve had a few people ask me if they’re designer, because of the stud detail on the straps. They aren’t but it’s nice they look like they could be!

The other week I got an email from a PR at Missy Empire, and they asked if they could send me a couple of pieces to give a little shoutout to on my Instagram. I'd never actually bought anything from there before, so I had a look through the site and I was surprised by how many cute summer pieces there were. I chose this crop top and a coral playsuit (I just shared the snap of it on my Insta this morning), and they both fit me really nicely. Also, considering how reasonable the prices are on the site, I was really impressed by the quality of the fabric. This shirt style crop is really thick and not even slightly see-through. It also fits nicely, except for the two shoulder straps are a little too big - but I just tuck them in a bit and it's all fine. I wore this with a pair of high-waist mom jeans (from New Look), because it started to get a little cold, but it would look great with a pair of shorts or a skirt too.
